All the Stuff behind the scenes.... - Lazy J

Hi all! Spring is here and summer is fast approaching so I thought I'd tell you what I like to do in terms of skin care to get ready. After being cooped up inside for a lot of the winter, my skin gets pretty neglected and then the windy spring weather dries it out even more. Sound familiar?

The first things I do are switch over my cleansing routineexfoliate like a mad woman, and self tan. Part two will deal with toningprotection, and hydration.

I've found an incredible face wash that I've switched over to. It's mybody "Clean Routine" Revitalizing Foaming Cleanser for aging, sensitive skin. (Sadly, this is my category now ;) It is DIVINE! First of all, it smells great and has a luscious texture. It's almost like a gel, but softer and it definitely lathers. It leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, but not tight or dry at all! Love, love, love it. Just be very gentle when you squeeze it out of the tube, it comes out fast! I also use a very soft cleansing cloth to remove all traces of makeup from my skin. I encourage you to check out their whole website here and see what this company is all about. I'm really passionate about their philosophies and the science behind their products. They also don't use any harsh sulfates and even use the science of probiotics in their line. Look for more reviews about mybody in the future and check out my review of their sunscreen here.

Next: EXFOLIATE. Seriously, I'm an exfoliating fool! I get these exfoliating gloves from the drugstore and keep them in my shower. They last forever and dry really quick so they don't get all mildewy like some of the "poufs" or loofahs. Seriously, I kinda freak out when I don't pack my gloves.  I love Pacifica body washes because they smell heavenly and don't dry out your skin. Lather up those gloves and scrub every inch, paying close attention to your knees, ankles, elbows, and back. <<BONUS: Right now, Pacifica is having a 20% off sale on their French Lilac products (one of my faves) until 4/26!! Click here!!>>

This preps your skin for my favorite secret trick: L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Salon Airbrush Self-Tanning Mist in Medium Natural Tan. It's the BEST! I get really pale in the winter, which is fine, but my skin looks lots healthier with a faux glow. It's even great just on your face and neck if you're still all bundled up in winter clothes. I've gotten tons of compliments when I use it...people say I look really healthy. I usually spray it on at night and wake up looking like I've gone on a quick beach getaway. You can use it on your whole body and the application is pretty flawless considering its such a fine mist and the can sprays upside down and sideways with no problem. Just go easy on your ankles, elbows, knees as the color tends to look darker on these areas. And remember to exfoliate before application!!! There's absolutely no way I can tan my face anymore since I've had so many sunburns and so much sun exposure when I was younger. This helps me get the same effect with no damaging rays. (The mist doesn't provide sunscreen, however, which is why I put it on at night)

This little stick will change your life!!

And now we come to my feet. I have a love/hate relationship with going barefoot in the summer. On the one hand, it's all I want to do. On the other hand I get crazy, cracked heels that actually are extremely painful. Sometimes they even bleed if I don't take care of them! Gross. It used to be that I could run around on the beach and exfoliate the natural way, but since I don't live in Southern California anymore, my beach days are few and far between. But, don't fret if this also happens to you! I've found the be-all, end-all foot exfoliator. Seriously, your life is about to change. (And please don't waste your money on those ped-eggs and drugstore junk. They don't work.) Are you ready?

This magical device is called the Swedish Clover Foot File by Flowery. It's a stick-looking thing with four separate surfaces. You go in the order of the directions and seriously, your heels will be transformed! For extra moisturizing, I rub some Aquaphor on my heels afterwards and wear socks to bed. Life. Changing.

Stay tuned for my Getting Ready for Summer part 2 and a behind the scenes look at our photoshoot coming up!
